Vopak Indonesia (Jakarta)

The youth living in de nearby seaport area of Vopak Terminal Jakarta is a vulnerable group because of a low level of education, and a lack of skills and job opportunities. They need support to prevent them from violence and crime and to make them more self-confident. The Vopak WeConnect team at Jakarta has set up a program to help them to be more active and get an extra education outside the regular school hours.

Computer skills

Computer skills are one of the fundamental capabilities these youngsters need to prepare them for a future working environment. Especially since they have very little exposure to computers during school hours.

The program consists of a two-year computer course (MS Word, Excel and Powerpoint) for a group of 60 children (aged 12-18 years), who are selected from the local junior and senior high school.

The local computer course institution will provide a professional trainer for the training and program report. The IT-department of Vopak Terminal Jakarta provides the necessary tools for the training: computers and the MS Office Program. Vopak employees will help to coordinate and control the program implementation and will occasionally assist the trainer.

The project started in January 2018 and will run until the end of 2018.
