For the seventh consecutive year Vopak participated in the RoPaRun. In this classic relay run- and bike event of 530 kilmometres teams not only render an impressive sports achievement, they also engage in collecting money for the fight against cancer. The name RoPaRun has been derived from the relay track which runs between Rotterdam and Paris. As from this year the relay is also taking place from Hamburg. Each team consists of maximum eight runners who each run 65 kilometres, more than one and a half marathon. Four cyclists support and escort the runners along the track, as well as masseurs, navigators, drivers and caterers.
The 2012 edition featured participation of two Vopak teams. On Saturday, 26 May team 125 took off from Paris and team 152 from Hamburg. Both teams finished at the Coolsingel on Whit Monday, tired but fulfilled.
Apart from the sports achievement and thanks to our sponsors, both teams collected a total amount of EUR 62,500 for the fight against cancer.
