Pengerang Independent Terminals Sdn Bhd (PITSB), received its first Very Large Crude Carrier (VLCC) for clean petroleum products – MT Yuan Qiu Hu today. Marking this special occasion, PITSB CEO, Mr Law Say Huat said, “We are proud that MT Yuan Qiu Hu 333-metre long VLCC weighing 308,580 berthed safely today. Since our commencement of operations, VLCCs usually called at our terminal are for crude operations. Today for the first time we have one to call at our terminal for clean petroleum product operations. This special milestone is a breakthrough in innovation for the terminal and customers in terms of clean petroleum product vessel optimisation. To date, more than hundreds vessels of various sizes had called at the terminal, which offers both clean petroleum products and crude oil storage facilities for trading and system distributions purposes,”
He further added “This achievement is only possible with the close support and cooperation from our customers. With a natural draft of 24 metres and strategically located along one of the busiest shipping lanes between Middle East and Asia, our terminal is capable and flexible to cater for vessels up to VLCCs, either for clean or crude petroleum products. We will continue to listen, innovate and work with customers in our journey towards our vision – to be the safest terminal with exceptional services,”
