Strategic location

Vopak’s Banyan Terminal on Jurong Island serves all Singapore ammonia users via pipelines or trucks and can optimize the land usage for more supply chain connections. Currently, Vopak owns and operates a refrigerated ammonia tank with a capacity of 10,000 cbm.

Banyan is located within 2km of most of the major power generation plants on Jurong island and has existing waterfront infrastructure to enable bunkering without any major modifications.

State-of-the-art infrastructure

Our existing pipelines have built-in sensors to monitor the pipelines for leaks on a 24/7 basis with automated isolation valves to prevent any significant leaks from occurring. Equipped with a dedicated gas jetty, our Banyan terminal has ammonia import and export capabilities and is able to berth Very Large Gas Carriers at a draft of 15m.

Investing for the future

In response to the growing demand for sustainable energy, we are preparing new ammonia storage infrastructure with full import and export capabilities for low carbon power generation and bunker fuels at our Banyan terminal on Jurong Island. Additionally, we are exploring dedicated ammonia technology test-beds. Tapping on Vopak’s existing infrastructure and expertise in safe handling of ammonia, new technologies in cracking, fuel cell and safety can be tested. Globally Vopak is committed to investing € 1 billion to accelerate new energies and sustainable feedstocks.
