Our terminals

The independent tank terminal network of Vopak takes care of a number of important functions in the product’s journey from producer to end-user. The logistical chain in bulk liquid import and export often involves transport by oceangoing vessel. For Vopak’s customers, the terminal can serve as a point of origin for inland distribution by inland shipping, pipeline, tank truck, or rail. Or alternatively it can serve as collection point for small parcels, originating from an inland production facility, to create a large parcel for overseas export. A number of our terminals are part of industrial complexes for petrochemical factories. The terminal is connected to the factories by pipelines and facilitates mutual product flows and the supply and export of feedstock and finished products.

New terminals for Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG)

As from the second half of 2011 Vopak also facilitates the import of liquefied natural gas by energy companies, supporting the distribution to production and consumption areas in North West Europe and Mexico. In Altamira, Mexico an LNG import terminal with an annual throughput capacity of 7,4 billion cubic meters (bcma) was acquired by Vopak and has Gate terminal in the Port of Rotterdam been commissioned. Vopak and its partner Gasunie are the initiators and main shareholders of this independent terminal facility, with a throughput capacity of 12 bcma. In addition we are investigating the possibilities of developing additional LNG terminals in other parts of the world.
