Pakhoed expands tankstorage activities in Estonia

Pakterminal Ltd, a joint venture between Paktank International BV, 100% subsidiary of Royal Pakhoed, and N Terminaal Ltd of Estonia, has inaugurated a third jetty in the beginning of September.

The ceremonial opening was performed by Mrs A. Jorritsma-Lebbink, Transport minister of The Netherlands and Mr Kalev D. Kukk, Minister of Transport and Communications of Estonia, by their jointly cutting the ribbon.

By virtue of this additional jetty, three vessels can be serviced simultaneously. Moreover possibilities have been created to service larger vessels by virtue of an increased depth to 14,5 meters, enabling the direct transhipment to the Far East and the United States of America.

Prior to the jetty coming on stream, Pakterminal had recently enlarged its tank storage capacity with 30% to 130.000 cubic meters. This extra capacity has in the mean time been totally rented out. A further throughput capacity increase is foreseen next month by the addition of a third railway unloading area.

Finally it can be noted that a new expansion of the terminal has been planned by the addition of another 30.000 cubic meters of tankage capacity. This expansion is foreseen to become operational in the course of 1997.
