Vopak Oil Rotterdam, part of the Royal Vopak group, signed a long-term contract with Q8 Aviation for the storage and logistics handling of JetA-1 by Vopak's oil terminal in Rotterdam. The inital volume to be handled will be around the 1 million tonne per annum, this is expected to rise in future years given the increasing geographical imbalance between the supply and demand for JetA-1. Q8 Aviation, who control the downstream supply, logistics & marketing activities of JetA-1 as part of the Kuwait Petroleum Corporation (KPC), will start using the facilities at Vopak's Rotterdam terminal in the first quarter of 2006. This includes the water and pipeline links of Vopak with Europe's leading airports of Frankfurt, Rob Nijst, Managing Director of Vopak Oil Rotterdam: "For Vopak, this contract with Q8 Aviation is the first, major step in developing our terminal into a logistics hub for the Northwest Europe jet fuel market. Vopak Oil Rotterdam expects to further increase its jet fuel storage capacity to 250,000 cbm over the next few years." For more information: |
